This is just a small selection of the events, concerts and exhibitions that will take place in 2012
Various dates throughout the year - Fontaines is holding a brocante on 5 and 6 May; but there are many other
brocantes, foires and wine festivals in the nearby villages throughout the spring
and summer.
24th February to 4th March - Carnival of Chalon sur Saone. Parades, music, dancing, shows, etc, etc.
May tba - The Chalon Festival of wine and food.
26th to 28th May - Montgolfiades. Around 50 hot air balloons will take to the air at Chalon. On Sunday afternoon there will
be a family event, which will continue until the balloons take off at about 6.30pm at the Praire
Saint-Nicholas.
27th June - 1st July - Musicaves 2011 Festival of music without borders at Givry.
Each weekend in July - International festival of Baroque opera at Beaune.
13th and 14th July - Bastille Day fireworks. Fontaines holds its firework celebration on the evening of 13th July at 22.30 hours
followed by a free dance. Chalon waits until the 14th and holds it over water, which enhances the display.
18th to 22th July - Annual street theatre in Chalon. French street artists unite to provide four days of free entertainment.
Chalon dans la Rue sets out to explore different contemporary genres and help the development of more
poetic urban spaces, providing a colourful and entertaining landscape.
26th August to 5 September - Foire de Chalon in its 65th year. An exhibition that incorporates many aspects of life
including musical concerts. More than 740 exhibitors, over 700,000 people visited it in 2011.
September tba - 12th annual jazz festival at Beaune (open air). Jazz and wine.
October tba - 12th annual jazz festival at Beaune. Jazz and wine.
16th, 17th and 18th November - The 152nd wine auction of the Hospices de Beaune. The famous wine sale takes place
on the 18th November; but the full weekend is taken up with abundant wine and cheese
tasting, music, craft demonstrations, contests, and street processions. Join the famous.
Tickets for the wine sale can be purchased. La Petite Maison is within 20 to 25 minutes
of Beaune going by car or train.
December tba - 7th Beaune Blues & Boogie Festival.
